LIVE STREAM: Poland – Semifinals – Primacol Białystok Lowlanders v. Gdynia Seahawks (12p CEST, 6a EDT)
The Białystok Lowlanders will play host to the Gdynia Sawhawks in the opening semifinal of the Polish League of American Football League playoffs Saturday June 10.
The Lowlanders (4-2) finished second in the standings ahead of the third place Seahawks (4-2) by virtue of a 23-13 victory over Gdynia earlier in the regular season.
Gdynia enters the game averaging 34.1 points a game, second best in Poland, while the Lowlanders scored 155 points in six regular season games, good for fourth or an average of 23.1. Defensively the teams are almost equal with the Seahawks again ahead surrendering 16.7 points a game, slightly better than the Lowlanders 17.1.
The key to the Lowlanders offense is quarterback Aaron Knight who averaged 155 yards passing a game. Gdynia quarterback Joey Bradley, winner of the 2017 Portuguese championship with the Lisbon Devils, arrived midway through the season but has given the offense a boost. The Seahawks boasted the best passing offense in Poland in the regular season averaging 196 yards a game.
Bradley will put the Lowlanders secondary to the test as Białystok has the second leading pass defense in the league giving up only 90 yards passing per game. This could be where the game is won or lost.
There is no love lost between these two clubs. The Seahawks have eliminated Białystok for the past two years in the semifinals. A year ago the game was decided with less than a minute remaining. The Lowlanders definitely want this game, in front of their home crowd.
