LIVESTREAM Poland: Kraków Kings @ Białystok Lowlanders, May 1, 13:00 CET (1 pm, 7 AM ET)
The Bialystok Lowlanders (1-0) will play host to the Krakow Kings (1-0) Sunday May 1, as the Polish Football League rolls into its fourth weekend of play with only one game on tap.
The Lowlanders defeated the Warsaw Mets 27-0 on April 10 in their season opener while Krakow demolished the Warsaw Eagles 48-0.
The biggest reason for the Kings larger margin of victory was because the Eagles went winless in 2021 and are still struggling while the Kings got a number of players from the champions but now-defunct Bydgoszcz Archers.
Bialystok relies on quarterback Nick Rooney who spent two seasons behind center for Italy’s Bologna Warriors. Rooney has weapons including wide receiver and kick returner Rafal Królewski #17 who returned the opening kickoff two weeks ago against the Mets 90 yards for a touchdown. A player on defense to watch for is safety #7 Łukasz Śliwowski who has been promoted from the junior ranks.
For the Kings, quarterback Jacob Schimenz is the key. He led the Archers to the title in 2021 and is the architect of what looks like an explosive offense for Krakow.
The victor in this matchup will more than likely be viewed as the frontrunner to win the Polish Bowl. If both teams look good in their meeting together, there might even be a real chance that we see these two meet up again in July for the semifinals or even the championship.
