LIVESTREAM Poland: Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars @ Silesia Rebels, May 26, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 10 am EDT)
The Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars (1-4) head out on the road Sunday, May 26, to take on the Silesia Rebels (2-3) with a playoff spot on the line in the second to last weekend of play in the Polish Football League.
The Jaguars have had a rough season, thus far and are sitting in last place behind the Warsaw Mets as a result of losing to them earlier in the season. However, a win this weekend will catapult them to third or fourth place, depending on the outcome in the game between the Bialystok Lowlanders and Krakow Kings..
The Jaguars are also in somewhat of a transitional period, when it comes to their roster. The offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator were both replaced before last week’s game, and then their head coach heading into this week. To add to the problems, their defensive import was picked up by the Wroclaw Panthers for the European League of Football season. An additional complication is that under PFL rules the Jaguars are allowed to have 12 domestic players who can bounce back and forth between both teams, but unfortunately, the Panthers are in action today at the same time in Wroclaw.
The Rebels started the season out with two wins and looked to be in control of their season, until week 3 when they suffered a lopsided loss in Krakow, and were hit with a slew of injuries, most notably a season-ending injury to their defensive import. A key for the Rebels will be how well the newly signed Taylor Pawelkoski, (St Anslem University, NCAA Div. II), will be able to adjust from college play to what he will see in his first European start. A win this week won’t (mathematically) guarantee the Rebels a playoff spot, but it will give them control of the playoff picture.
