LIVESTREAM: Poland – Gdynia Seahawks @Bialystok Lowlanders, Sat., April 27, 12p CEDT (6a EDT)
In the game of the week in Poland’s Liga Futbolu Amerykańskiego, the 3-0 Gdynia Seahawks head to Bialystok, Poland to take on the defending champion Bialystok Lowlanders (1-2).
Gdynia are coming off of three straight victories after whipping the Lodz Wilki 62-7, Tychy Falcons, 32-27 and the Warsaw Mets 25-7. Meanwhile, the Lowlanders have struggled in 2019 suffering an embarrassing 45-6 loss to the Wroclaw Panthers, shutting out the Wyszkow Rhinos 41-0, but losing again, this time to the Tychy Falcons, 39-13.
The last time these two teams met was in the 2018 semifinals when the Lowlanders downed Gdynia 33-16.
Seahawks quarterback Philip Juhlin has looked impressive despite a tough second half in the win over Tychy when the Falcons defense created all kinds of problems in the red zone for Juhlin and the offense. He rebounded against the Mets and will be on his game today and with the mercurial Jakub Mazan in his arsenal, anything can happen. Mazan scored a pair of touchdowns against Tychy, one on a 90 yard return on the opening kickoff. His speed and ability to get behind defenders will cause problems for the Lowlanders.
Bialystok’s head coach Alex Burdette will likely start quarterback Rex Dausin who sat out the win over the Rhinos with a minor injury. The offense also relies heavily on wide receiver Eryk Mąkowski, and running back Damian Kolpak. The defense is anchored by linebacker Zachary Blair, who can also double as a running back.
