In a rematch of the 2023 Polish Football League championship game, the reigning champion Bialystok Lowlanders and the Silesia Rebels will face each other in Katowice, Poland Sunday, April 7 in the opening game of the season for both teams.
The Lowlanders edged Silesia 38-35 in the title contest to capture their second straight Polish crown.
The Rebels, under head coach Michał Kołek have signed a new quarterback in Jordan Ambrose (Defiance College, NCAA Div. III) who threw for a school record 1,842 yards in his senior year last season and 17 touchdowns while rushing for another 589 yards and seven scores. Defensively, linebacker Dre’Quan Reed has returned and will be joined by fellow linebackers Konrad Drożak (Tychy Falcons), and Tomasz Fijałkowski (Armia Poznań).
Bialystok head coach Chuck Hawthorne, who served as defensive coordinator for the past two seasons, has snagged quarterback Cameron Yowell (Auburn University) who played for the Tychy Falcons in 2023 before getting injured. Hawthorne bolstered the defense with Hawaiian linebacker Keenan Kaluahine-Arroyo who also played for Tychy in 2023. The Lowlanders defense allowed just 8.4 points a game in 2023, tops in the league.
These two teams staged a championship game for the ages last season so expect plenty of fireworks in this one.
