LIVESTREAM Poland: Bialystok Lowlanders @ Warsaw Mets, Sept. 27, 14:00 CET (08:00 ET)
The Liga Futbolu Amerykańskiego, LFA, in Poland features only one game this week as the undefeated Bialystok Lowlanders travel to Warsaw to face the winless Warsaw Mets.
The last time these two teams met was last year when Bialystok came out with a 34-6 win.
The Warsaw Mets will be looking for their first win of the season when they host the Lowlanders but it will be a tough task with Bialystok playing solid football behind new quarterback Brandon Gwinner.
Warsaw opened the season with a 17-7 loss to the Bydgoszcz Archers and then were blanked 16-0 by the Silesia Rebels. The Lowlanders downed the Rebels 38-14 and defeated the Archers 49-24.
In the two losses, Warsaw has managed to score just one touchdown, and that was a defensive touchdown on a fumble return against the Bydgoszcz Archers. Mets quarterback TJ Richardson can be elusive but playing without any of the starting receivers from 2019 has hobbled the offense and Richardson has been trying to do it on his own.
TJ Richardson understands the situation
“It’s no secret we aren’t at full strength this season. We have people playing out of position and injuries have been an issue but we see it as an opportunity to develop. Young players are getting a chance to get meaningful playing time and our core players have shown true dedication.”
In the loss to the Falcons two weeks ago, the Mets could not advance past midfield pretty much the entire game. Richardson did rush for 74 yards but had only 39 yards passing. This week Warsaw is facing a formidable opponent in the Lowlanders, winners of the title two years ago and finalists last year.
“I’m personally excited to play against the Lowlanders. They have a solid team and they’re a quality organization. Any time you can compete against a team like and test your skills it’s a great thing. As a team we are preparing as if it were anyone else. We have to focus on perfecting what we will do well while limiting our mistakes. If we do that we can play with anyone. We will always play Mets football which means we don’t back down from anyone and we play our hearts out every snap. I expect Sunday to be full of exciting plays for both teams.”

Meanwhile, Bialystok is coming off a 49-24 win over the Archers and new quarterback Brandon Gwinner looked impressive in the win. He threw for three touchdowns and ran for another three in the victory. Wide receiver Rafal Krowlewski hauled in two touchdown passes (85 yds, 37 yds) while Antoni Podgorski caught the other on a 44 yard play. Running back Glen Toonga added a 27 yard touchdown.
Although Toonga is aware that Warsaw has not won a game, he doesn’t intend to take them lightly:
“This week’s game is our next game so it’s our most important game. It’s another chance for us to get better and dominate our all three phases of the game”
On defense, newly added defensive back Tommy Kaczocha made his presence known with an interception which led to the game’s final touchdown by Toonga.
Warsaw will be playing in front of their home crowd which hopefully will help, but will be facing a Lowlanders team that seems to be on a roll.
