The defending champion Bialystok Lowlanders (0-3) will still be looking for their first win of the 2024 Polish Football League season when they travel to Warsaw to face the Warsaw Mets (2-1).
This is the first meeting between the two teams this season. Last year, Bialystok took both games, 21-6 and 55-25.
The Mets started the season off with a 27-22 win, on the road, over the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars, only to open up at home in a repeat of their semi-final game last year, in which they faced the Silesia Rebels and lost a high scoring game 43-40. Finally, the Mets were no match for their crosstown rivals, the Warsaw Eagles, losing 47-17.
The Lowlanders, defending Polish champions, have struggled to find themselves in the first quarter of the 2024 season. The Lowlanders opened up the season, on the road, with a 30-19 loss to the Silesia Rebels, who they last faced in the 2023 Polish Bowl victory. In week 2, they hosted the Warsaw Eagles, losing 36-14. Then they were trounced 47-21 by the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars.
This is a crucial game for the reigning champions. A loss today for Bialystok would put the playoffs virtually out of reach. For the Mets, a win would would almost secure a playoff berth at the mid point of the season barring a late season collapse.
