LIVESTREAM Poland: Bialystok Lowlanders @ Warsaw Mets, April 23, 13:00 CET (1 pm, 7 am EDT)
The Bialystok Lowlanders (2-0) will be putting their unbeaten streak on the line when they head to Warsaw to face the Warsaw Mets (1-1) in a crucial Polish Football League matchup Sunday, April 23.
These two teams faced each other twice in 2022 with Bialystok coming away the winner in both contests, 27-0 and 31-15.
The Lowlanders have already fashioned a formidable record despite having only played two games. Not only are they undefeated but they are also unscored on after disposing of the Olsztyn Lakers 34-0 in the season opener and the Tychy Falcons 38-0 last week. The Mets, in the meantime, downed the Warsaw Eagles 27-20 to start the season but were edged in a thriller last week 26-25 by the Krakow Kings.
In Warsaw’s two games, quarterback Torrin Campbell (Shaw University) has tossed five touchdown passes, three to wide receiver Jan Omelańczuk, and one each to Krzysztof Andrukonis and Jedrzej Kubica and has scored two on the ground himself. In other words, as Campbell goes, so go the Mets. Warsaw has proven it can score but so far the defense has surrendered 46 points in the two games. They will need to find a way to slow down the Lowlanders offense which is averaging 36 points a game.
Bialystok on the other hand has a potent offense led by quarterback Clayton Uecker (Adrian College), who has thrown three touchdown passes, two to Eryk Makowski and one to Noel Graf. Meanwhile, running back Jędrzej Śmigielski has scored four touchdowns to lead the team while the defense has accounted for a pair on pick sixes (Noel Graf, Jakub Radziszewski). In other words, the Lowlanders scoring has come from both offense and defense. Add to that the fact that kicker Sebastian Jagielski has been perfect so far this season after kicking three field goals and nine extra points without a miss.
The Mets will be in tough this week against the top team in the PFL but the fact that they are playing at home and that they were close to beating Krakow last week can provide extra incentive.
