LIVESTREAM: Poland – Bialystok Lowlanders @Olsztyn Lakers, Sunday, May 12, 1p CEDT (7a EDT)
The Bialystok Lowlanders (3-2) will take on the Olsztyn Lakers (2-3) Sunday, May 12 in a key matchup in Poland’s Liga Futbolu Amerykańskiego.
The Lowlanders are coming off of two straight wins including a big 22-8 defeat of the Gdynia Seahawks. They then beat the Krakow Kings last week 37-7. The Lakers suffered a tough 42-0 loss to the Warsaw Mets in their last outing and need a win today to get back on track.
Bialystok’s quarterback Rex Dausin has looked impressive in recent games after missing one game earlier in the season with a minor injury. Running back Krzysztof Czaplejewicz (#26) has been a key and has scored six touchdowns in five games and is one of the top three rushers in the league. Rookie Rafał Królewski (#17), who only started playing football a few months ago, has scored two touchdowns in the last two games. The offense also relies heavily on wide receiver Eryk Mąkowski. The defense is anchored by linebacker Zachary Blair, who can also double as a running back.
Lakers head coach Gray Levy:
“We are simply focused on playing more disciplined football. I know the Lowlanders are a good team, but so many of our problems have been caused by our own mistakes. I’ve told my guys not to worry about the opponent but just to use the skills, make the reads and carry out the assignments we have been working on. If they do these things, we’ll be satisfied, whatever happens.”
Quarterback Andrew Mathews (Friends University) is healthy and will be behind center while the team’s other import, linebacker Demetrius Allen (Florida Tech) anchors the defense.
