The 3-1 Eidsvoll 1814s travel to Oslo, Norway to face the 1-3 Vålerenga Trolls Sunday, June 9 as the Norwegian League of American Football heads into the final two rounds of the 2019 season.
The two teams met in the opening game of the year with Eidsvoll coming out on top 34-0. Last year, they split the series.
Eidsvoll occupies second place in the standings while the Trolls are fourth so the game has implications in terms of playoff positioning. In four games, the 1814s have averaged 33 points a game while surrendering an average of 19. Vålerenga has only scored 59 points in the four games while giving up an average of 34. However, the Trolls are coming of a big win over the Sarpsborg Olavs Menn.
Eidsvoll head coach Michael Hall, who also starts at quarterback and linebacker, will be trying to lead his team back to the Norwegian final which they reached in 2017. He has thrown for 11 touchdowns while also rushing for two more. His key target is running back/wide receiver Arne Søgaard (7 TD rec., 3 rushing TDs, 1 kickoff return TD) along with wide receivers Tor Eric Stensjøen (1 TD catch, 1 rushing TD), and Yaser Hasan (2 TD rec.)
Defensively, Hall leads the team in tackles with 28 along with one interception. Linebacker Thomas Nordli has 23 tackles followed by defensive back Sigurd Grov who has 21 and three picks and defensive end Joacim Eliassen with 21 tackles and a sack.
Trolls head coach Le’Von Warr is struggling to find an offensive combination that works with the offense averaging only 15 points a game. His quarterback is Johannes Moe and his leading playmaker is wide receiver Brage Harby. Linebackers Jørgen Sørå Gulbrandsen and Christoffer Brateng Delgado anchor the defense with defensive back Emil Atonsen leading the secondary.
