Defending champion Team Finland takes on Sweden in the gold medal game of the 2018 Nordic U19 Championships being held in Kristianstad, Sweden October 19 – October 21.
The national teams from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland are playing in this tournament which is held every other year.
Team Finland enters the game as the defending champions. Finland won the 2016 title, defeating Sweden 30-14 in the final.
The Swedish running game will be a key. Sweden rushed for 151 yards against Norway with Jonathan Gustafsson leading the way with 72 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Quarterback Samuel Jämthammar only threw for 85 yards and one touchdown on six of 11 passing.
Finland’s offense against the Danes was more balanced as they rushed for 159 yards while quarterback August Wahlstein threw for 161 yards. The defensive front seven was impressive led by defensive lineman Edward Vesterinen who recorded 3.5 tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble and a sack. Sweden’s offensive line has to keep him in check.
There is no love lost between these two nations when it comes to football. This will be a treat to watch.
