The Mayas (0-1) head to Saltillo, Mexico Saturday to take on the hometown Dinos (0-1) at Olympic Saltillo stadium in a Liga de Futbol Americano (LFA) in a crucial matchup.
Both teams were shut out on the opening weekend of play. The two-time and defending champion Mayas were pummeled last week 32-0 by the Raptors. Meanwhile, the Fundidores handed the Dinos a 17-0 beating.
The Dinos were only able to muster 168 yards of offense in their loss, and only 29 on the ground. The Mayas played perhaps their worst game in two years, recording -42 yards rushing.
Mayas quarterback Marco Garcia was under pressure the entire game which means that the offensive line will have to do a better job of protecting him and giving the running backs some room.
This game now has huge implications. Another loss in such a short, seven game season would certainly make it even tougher for either team to make the playoffs.
