The Milano Rhinos take the four hour trip to Rome Sunday, March 3 to take on the Lazio Marines (formerly the Ducks) as the Italian Football League winds up its first full weekend of action in the 2024 season.

The Rhinos are coming off a tough 43-42 loss to the Torino Giaguari last weekend while the Marines are playing in their first game of the year.

The Marines’ re-signing of quarterback Austin Albericci (Rutgers University, NCAA Div. 1) was important. Albericci led the league in passing yardage in 2023 after throwing for 2,196 yards and a league best 22 touchdowns against just five interceptions.

For Milano, quarterback Hamish McClure (University of Nevada, NCAA Div 1) will lead the offense with Romello Bentley at receiver while on defense linebacker Dustin Huseinovic is the anchor. in last week’s loss to Torino, McClure had the offense humming throwing for 339 yards and five touchdowns. He spent the 2023 season with the Tyresö Royal Crowns in the Swedish Superserien, leading them to the championship final. In eight games with the Royal Crowns, including the playoffs, he threw for 1.468 yards and 18 touchdowns against just four picks.

This game will definitely be a test of both defenses with two pass-heavy offenses facing each other.
