The unbeaten Torino Giguari (2-0) will play host to the Legnano Frogs (0-1) as the Italian Football League winds up its third weekend of play.
The surprising Giaguari, who returned to the top league this season, have opened the season with two straight wins after edging the Milano Rhinos 43-42 on opening day and then pummeling the Bologna Warriors 42-7 a week ago. The Frogs dropped a 24-3 decision to the Ancona Dolphins last weekend.
The Giaguari’s key signings included quarterback Nicholas Dalmasso (Milano Seamen) and wide receiver Adrian Tolbert (Southwest Minnesota State University), as well as Tamsir Seck and defensive back Bismark Yeboah both of whom also played for the Milano Seamen in 2023 in the European League of Football. Clearly this paid off as in the two wins, Dalmasso has thrown for 705 yards and nine touchdowns with Tolbert hauling in 10 of those passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns.
Legnano struggled last week in their season opener against Ancona generating a total of 90 yards of offense. Quarterback Eystin Salum completed just six passes for 67 yards while former Cleveland Browns receiver Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi caught three passes for 36 yards.
For the Frogs to have any kind of a chance in this game, the offensive line will need to provide protection for Salum to allow him to do what he does best – improvise. But with Torino quarterback Dalmasso playing at an elite level right now, it could be a long afternoon for Legnano.
