LIVESTREAM Italy: Firenze Guelfi @ Varese Skorpions, March 23, 14:30 CET (2:30 pm, 9:30 am ET)

The Firenze Guelfi (4-0) will pay a visit to Varese to face the Varese Skorpions (1-2) in Italian Football League Round #6 action Sunday, March 23.

This is the second meeting between the two teams this season. The Guelfi took the first game 42-6.

The Skorpions got by the Aquile 15-12 in their first matchup of the season but were stung 42-6 by Firenze and by the Torino Giaguari 31-7.

The Guelfi have looked invincible this early in the season with four lopsided wins. They opened by thrashing the Abisola Pirates 49-0 and followed that up by whipping the Lazio Marines 42-13, the Varese Skorpions 42-6 and the Ferrara Aquile 47-30.

For Varese, quarterback Hamish McClure (University of Nevada) completed 45 of 98 passes for 404 yards and two touchdowns. His leading target is is Roberto Zanovello with 15 receptions for 127 yards. Martino Piazzi is right behind with eight catches for 128 yards. The Varese ground game is averaging only 65 yards a game but will be needed in this game.

The Firenze quarterbacking duo of Andrea Fimiani (645 yds/13 TDs) and Eystin Salum (295/4) have combined for 940 passing yards and 17  touchdowns through the air. Fimiani is also the Guelfi’s and the league’s leading rusher with 45 carries for 457 yards and five scores.

This will be a tough assignment for the home team Skorpions. Firenze is playing football at a high level.
