The Bergamo Lions (0-3) will face the Ancona Dolphins (2-1) on Saturday, March 22 at the Stadio della Palla Ovale in Ancona as the Italian Football League heads into week #6.

The Lions fell 35-10 to the Parma Panthers and then 34-7 to the Legnano Frogs before being beaten by the Bologna Warriors 19-14. Ancona lost 20-14 to the Legnano Frogs to open their season but rebounded with a 47-0 blanking of the Warriors. They then rolled over the Milano Rhinos 28-9.

Lions quarterback Jay Butterfield (San Jose State) has completed 56 of 106 passes for 426 yards and three touchdowns. Luca Aldrighetti has caught 20 of those passes for 156 yards and a score.

Ancona is led by quarterback Blake Eaton (Linfield University) who has thrown for 487 yards and seven touchdowns. His main target is receiver Tyler Terhark (North Dakota State) who has hauled in nine passes for 191 yards and four scores.

For Bergamo, this season is a return to Italy’s top league for the first time since 2019. That season, they finished last with a 1-7 record and were bumped down to the lower league.
