The Ancona Dolphins (1-3) and Bergamo Lions (1-4) will square off Sunday, April 28 in Bergamo in an early battle for a playoff berth in Italy’s Div. 1.
Both team need a win in this one badly.
The Dolphins three losses have been to the Parma Panthers, 14-10, Lazio Ducks, 41-12, and the Milano Seamen 29-6. They have one win, against the lowly Bolgna Warriors, 18-15.
Meanwhile, Bergamo has a win against the Torino Giaguari, 30-21 while dropping four games to the Milano Seamen (37-0), Bolzano Giants 28-24, Lazio Ducks, 34-21 and Parma Panthers, 40-7.
This is a tale of two struggling offenses.
Bergamo has scored 82 points in five games (16.4 pts/game) while the Dolphins are averaging 11.5. However, the Lions defense has surrendered 32 points every game which is a full touchdown more than the 24.7 points Ancona gives up.
