The Ferrara Aquile (0-4) will be looking for their first win of the Italian Football League season when they host the other newcomers to the IFL, the Albisola Pirates (1-2) Sunday, March 23.

The Aquile opened the season with a close 15-12 loss to the Varese Skorpions but then were beaten 20-7 by the Torino Giaguari. They followed that up with a 47-30 defeat at the hands of the Firenze Guelfi and a 14-6 loss to the Lazio Marines.

The Pirates lost their opening game of the 2025 season after getting pounded 49-0 by the Guelfi. However, they rebounded with a 24-17 win over the Marines before losing 38-29 to the Torino Giaguari.

After a rocky start, Pirates quarterback Jordy Baidal has improved. He has thrown for 373 yards and five touchdowns in three games after only mustering 44 yards in the air in the opening game loss to Firenze.  Lawrence Dalla Betta (University of West Florida) rotated in for one game and threw for 120 yards while rushing for 69 and another two scores. In last week’s loss to Torino, Baidal acquitted himself well throwing for 243 yards and four touchdowns. Still, as a team Albisola rushed for only 30 yards. They will need a better ground game to have a chance today.

For this game, the Aquile will rely again on starter Aaron Allen who returned from injury two games ago. He has thrown for 649 yards and seven touchdowns in the three games he has played in. His number one receiver  is One Williams who has caught 30 passes for 377 yards and four scores in the four games.

This game has all the earmarks of a potential upset by the home team Aquile. If Allen and Williams get hot, the Pirates may have a tough time.
