The last of four International Federation of American Football qualifying games for the IFAF 2019 Men’s U19 European Championships in Bologna, Italy from July 29 to August 4, 2019, is set for Sunday May 5 when Team Finland plays host to Russia.
So far seven of the eight qualifying spots have been filled.
The host team, Italy, and the top three ranked teams based on the results of the previous European U19 Championships, Sweden, Denmark and Austria, have automatically qualified for the tournament. Then, Holland, Norway and France all emerged as winners from the qualifying round. Last weekend, Holland downed Team Spain 15-9 while Norway defeated Great Britain in late March. Team France will also move on as Slovakia declined to play.
The Russians are traveling with a roster of 27 players while Team Finland has a roster of 47. Head coach for the Finnish national team is Tero Virtanen, while Russia is coached by Maksim Larenov.
