LIVE SCORES: IFAF Europe Champions League Enters Crucial Weekend
This is a crucial weekend for teams in 2016 IFAF Europe Champions League tournament. The Lisbon Devils travel to Vienna, Austria to take on the Danube Dragons while Serbia’s Vukovi Belgrade will play host to the Budapest Wolves from Hungary.
Turkey’s Koc Rams was the first team to advance to the Final Four with their dramatic 6-0 win over the 2015 title holders the Carlstad Crusaders from Sweden.
Lisbon Devils (Portugal) (1-0) – Danube Dragons (Austria) (1-0)
The Danube Dragons will host the Lisbon Devils Sunday in Vienna in a game with enormous implications. The Dragons needed overtime two weeks ago to defeat the Serbian defending champion the Novi Sad GAT Dukes 14-8. However, since then they have made a change at quarterback and brought back Alex Good who started for the Dragons in 2015. The Dragons are winless in Austrian league play so far this season.
The Devils enter this game after beating the Istanbul Bogazici Sultans two weeks ago 32-27, and then capturing the Portuguese championship for the first time in their history last week, beating the Algarve sharks 28-26 in a nail biter. Quarterback Joey Bradley and former NFL receiver Collin Franklin are a deadly combination and will make life tough for the Dragons secondary.
