Team Italy needs just a win over Switzerland to advance into the elite nations in Europe Saturday, October 19 when they face the Swiss national team in Milan.
They now face a Swiss team that was pummeled by Austria 66-0 and who lost to Italy a year ago. In that game. the Alps Bowl Italy crushed the Swiss 43-8.
With Luke Zahradka at quarterback, Italy is very tough to beat, especially playing at home. Team Italy head coach Davide Giuliano will no doubt field the same basic roster as he did against Austria. Meanwhile, his counterpart Chris Winter, has had a couple of weeks to retool the roster of the team that lost badly to the Austrians. The last time the Swiss defeated Italy was in the 2016 Alps Bowl, when they came from behind to win 12-9.
Italy and Switzerland play in Division B along with Austria. The winners of each division move on to face the winners of Divisions A, C and D in 2020.
