Team Russia (0-1) head to New River Stadium in London to take on Great Britain (0-0) in a crucial game in the IFAF 2020 European Championship group/qualificaton round.

The British Lions have faced Team Russia once before, in 2016, when they downed the Russians 30-3 in Leeds in another European Championship qualifier.

The Russians are facing a Great Britain team that finished fifth in the 2018 IFAF European Championships. Russia dropped a 34-7 decision to Sweden earlier this month.

Team Russia played two games in 2018, first losing 27-0 to Spain and then playing Turkey to a 13-13 tie. In the loss to Sweden, the Russians shook off their nerves in the second half after trailing 20-0 at the half. They scored on their first possession and played a very physical game. These two teams faced each other in a 2016 European Championship qualifier with Great Britain coming out on top 30-3.

Expect Great Britain head coach Michael Callan to field a well rested and prepared GB Lions squad. Callan announced a roster of 45  which includes 10 members of the Tamworth Phoenix, 2019 British finalists

Great Britain and Russia play in the IFAF European Championship Division D of Group A along with Sweden.
