The Hamburg Huskies face the German reigning champions the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions at home in Hamburg for the first game in the German Football League for both teams in 2016.
The Huskies are coming off a 61-33 loss to the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in European Football League tournament play while the Lions defeated the Vienna Vikings 21-14 in the Big6 tournament.
Huskies quarterback Jordan Perry threw two touchdown passes in the loss to Kiel while running back Jens Koppe ran for three touchdowns.
For the Lions, quarterback Grant Enders threw two touchdown passes against Vienna last week and ran one in himself. Braunschweig will rely on a superb rushing attack led by David McCants.
Although Hamburg lost both games to the Lions in 2015, they played well. They dropped the first of the back-to-back series 21-0 away at Braunschweig and then lost the second at home 28-12.
