The Hildesheim Invaders (7-1) will play host to the Dresden Monarchs (5-1) in the highlight game of the week in the German Football League.
The number two and three teams in the GFL North are doing battle for the first time this season.
The Monarchs opened the season by trouncing the Paderborn Dolphins 38-7 and then beat the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions 21-7 and the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 22-11. They then downed the Berlin Adler 44-32 before being brought down to earth by the Potsdam Royals, 40-19 after holding a 7-6 lead at the half. However, they rebounded from that loss by beating Kiel again, this time 25-3.
After opening the season by losing 56-21 to the defending champion Potsdam Royals, the Invaders have won seven straight first beating the Berlin Adler 49-42, the Berlin Rebels 36-19, Paderborn Dolphins 50-31 and the Ravensburg Razorbacks in overtime 31-30. They then downed the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 43-34 before whipping the Kirchdorf Wildcats 56-7. Last week, they were pushed by the Berlin Adler but came away with a narrow 38-36 victory.

Dresden quarterback Brock Domann is the third leading passer in the GFL after throwing for 1,676 yards and 13 touchdowns and his favorite target is Ricky Smalling has 36 catches for 619 yards and five touchdowns while Max Gracie-Ainscough has 26 receptions for 332 yards and five scores. However, the Monarchs rushing game needs improvement, The team is 11th in the league in overall yardage having rushed for a total of 638 yards in six games, averaging 106.3 yards a game.
Hildesheim quarterback Nelson Hughes has thrown for 1,892 yards and 21 touchdowns in the eight games with Lennart Stukenborg being his main target with 30 receptions for 357 yards and three scores and running back Jordan Grant who has 23 receptions for 239 yards. Grant has rushed for 704 yards and eight scores, good for second in overall yardage and average yards per game (88) while Hughes has rushed for 515 yards and nine touchdowns, making him the seventh leading rusher in the league.
The Monarchs who give up 113.2 rushing yards a game are facing the top rushing team in the GFL in Hildesheim. The Invaders average 216.3 yards rushing.
