The Ravensburg Razorbacks (4-4) will host the Stuttgart Scorpions (1-7) in one of four German Football League games on AFI.tv this weekend.
These teams met on July 10 with the Razorbacks scraping by 14-7 in an exciting nationally televised game. Expect today to be another hard-fought matchup between two talented teams.
Stuttgart Scorpions @ Ravensburg Razorbacks, August 22, 15:00 CET (3pm, 9am ET)
Ravensburg’s offense enters this game with confidence as they’ve been an exciting group to watch in a talented GFL south. Offensive coordinator Augie Stevens has masterfully toyed with his lineup playing both American quarterback Ryan Deal and Danish passer Alexander Kronberg Bjerre. The move allows the Razorbacks to play both of their two dangerous American weapons in running back Lennies Mcferren and tight end Ryan Smith. The multitude of imports meshes well with Ravensburg local talent as receiver Michael Mayer is another player to watch as this Razorbacks team looks to light up the scoreboard again today.
The Razorbacks defense features one of the countries top defenders linebacker Jeremy Conley. Conleys has put up 78 tackles and 13 tackles for a loss in only eight games. Off the edge French pass rusher, Stanley Zeregbe has racked up six total sacks. Expect Zeregbe and defensive tackle Lucas Walk to create pressure today against a Stuttgart offensive line that has struggled this season.
The Scorpions go into this game looking to finish the season strong. With two games left in the season, quarterback Brandon Reaume looks to get this offense going. The Canadian quarterback has shown flashes this season running and passing for big plays. Reaume is a phenomenal athlete that can move the chains with his legs as well as hit receivers in stride with his arm. Expect Reaume to target veteran Patrick Donahue along with German receiver Achim Grossman.
Stuttgart’s defense features Saury Heiniger. Heiniger is an experienced and athletic defensive back that could make things tough on Ravensburg’s passing attack. Heiniger is coming off of a big game last week where he made eight tackles played great in coverage. Linebacker Geronimo De Pauli and Leon Epple are two players in Stuttgart’s front seven who have stood out this season making tackles and forcing turnovers.
Stuttgart played well against the Razorbacks in late July. This proud Scorpions team aims to finish the season strong, as their penultimate game of the season gives them a chance to hit the field with no pressure. Meanwhile, the Razorbacks are eager to stack their wins as they’ve been a pleasant surprise in their first season in Germany’s top league.
