The 0-3-1 Kirchdorf Wildcats will be looking for their first win of the season Saturday, June 1 when they play host to the 3-1 Stuttgart Scorpions in German Football League fifth round action.
Kirchdorf has opened the GFL season with a tie and three losses. The Wildcats played the Munich Cowboys to a 27-27 tie, dropped a 34-7 decision to Stuttgart and then were walloped 52-14 by the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns. Last week they lost to Marburg in a shootout, 55-49.
KIrchdorf QB Ian Kolste (Whitworth) has thrown for 739 yards and five touchdowns in three games while Clayton Turner came in against the Unicorns and threw for 90 yards. Receiver Robert Ruiz (Colorado State) has hauled in 29 catches for 605 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Alex Braunsberger has caught six passes for 49 yards and rushed for 171 yards and four touchdowns while Kolste has rushed for 91 yards and another touchdown.
After a promising start to the season which saw the Scorpions get a 30-21 win over the Marburg Mercenaries, followed by a 34-7 victory over Kirchdorf and then a 37-30 win over Ingolstadt, they were brought down to earth with a thud last week, losing 63-13 to the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns.
Stuttgart QB Michael Eubank has thrown for 970 yards and four games. Running back Giacomo De Pauli has rushed for 282 yards in the four games, and also caught 17 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receive Tyler Cooperwood has 24 receptions for 419 yards and six touchdowns while Luca Faschian caught 13 for 238 and a touchdown.
