LIVESTREAM: Germany – Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns @ Kirchdorf Wildcats, May 19, 4p (10a EST)
The 3-0 Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, Europe #1, head to Kirchdorf, Germany to face the newly promoted Kirchdorf Wildcats (1-1-1) in the third week of play in the German Football League.
The Unicorns have opened the 2018 season with three straight lopsided wins which extends their winning streak to 20-0 stretching back to last year. They have outscored their opponents, the Munich Cowboys, Allgäu Comets and Stuttgart Scorpions 152-40.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats, in their very first year in Germany’s top league, have struggled to put points on the board having scored 42 in three games.
Unicorns quarterback Marco Ehrenfried is among the league leaders in passing averaging 318 yards a game while throwing nine touchdown passes. Cameron Birse of the Wildcats has thrown for 366 yards and three touchdowns in the two games he has played.
Schwäbisch Hall wide receiver Tyler Rutenbeck leads the league in reception yardage with 463 and has four touchdown catches. Austrian Clemens Erlsbacher is the top receiver for Kirchdorf with 12 catches for 314 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Unicorns look as solid as they did in winning the German title in 2017. The front seven is led bu defensive tackle David Bada who has sacked quarterbacks four times, good for second in Germany, while also recording eight tackles for loss.
The Wildcats secondary is anchored by Dartez Jacobs who leads the team with 17 tackles and two interceptions. He and his teammates will face enormous pressure in this game against a Unicorns passing attack which is arguably the best in Europe.
