The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (6-1) will try to get back to their winning ways when they face the Saarland Hurricanes (1-5) Saturday, July 20 as the German Football League heads into the second half of the season.
The two teams met once before this year with the Unicorns handing Saarland a 50-28 loss in Schwäbisch Hall.
They will face a Saarland Hurricanes team that lost two high scoring games to the Berlin Rebels (39-38) and Comets (36-30) before beating the Ravensburg Razorbacks 44-32. They then proceeded to lose to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns 50-28, 40-12 to the Straubing Spiders and 37-20 to the New Yorker Lions.
The Unicorns lost their first game of the year last week when the Potsdam Royals whipped them 56-18. They had gone unbeaten in their first six games although in their last three before the loss they had been pushed hard getting by the Ravensburg Razorbacks 31-28, the Munich Cowboys, 42-35 and the Straubing Spiders 24-21..

For Saarland, quarterback Andrew Brito who was injured in the loss to the Comets, has thrown for 1,106 yards and 13 touchdowns in the four games he has played. His main target has been Spencer Corona who hauled in 49 passes for 593 yards and 10 touchdowns. Benjamin Thompson is the leading rusher for the Hurricanes having carried the ball 40 times for 170 yards and two touchdowns.
Schwäbisch Hall quarterback Conor Miller, who is in his fifth season in Europe, is the ninth leading passer in the GFL having thrown for 1.427 and 21 touchdowns against four interceptions. His favorite target is Jason-Matthew Sharsh who has 35 receptions for 522 yards and nine scores while Magnus Bumiller has 27 catches for 338 yards and five touchdowns. Veteran running back Mike Gentili leads the league averaging 105.5 yards per game on 633 total yards and six touchdowns in six games after missing the game against the Munich Cowboys.
The Hurricanes have not played a game in a month and even though they are playing at home, they will need to shake off the rust in a hurry against a Schwäbisch Hall team determined to atone for the lopsided loss to Potsdam a week ago.
