The Saarland Hurricanes (0-1) make the four hour bus trip from Saarbrücken to Kempten Sunday, May 26 to take on the Allgäu Comets in the third full weekend of play in the German Football League.
The last time these two teams met was during the 2023 GFL regular season and the Comets came away with a 52-48 win
After falling just short to Schwäbisch Hall (58-57) in their season opener, the Comets rebounded with a 52-28 victory over the Ravensburg Razorbacks. Saarland fell in their opening game, losing 39-38 in a thriller to the Berlin Rebels.
Watch live. Saarland Hurricanes @ Allgäu Comets, May 26, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT)
Comets quarterback Xeavier Bullock is the leading passer in the GFL after two games having thrown for 953 yards and 12 touchdowns. The aerial attack will no doubt continue today. His top receiver is Nate Stewart who has 18 receptions for 295 yards and five touchdowns. He is followed closely by Dominik Hoerner with 11 catches for 260 yards and two touchdowns, and Ahsan Moore with 13 receptions for 252 yards and three scores.
The receiving trio will definitely put pressure on the Hurricanes secondary. Bullock is the leading rusher for Allgäu with 26 carries for 141 yards (good for fifth in the league) and two touchdowns.
Saarland quarterback Andrew Brito threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns in the loss to Berlin last week. His main targets were Spencer Corona who hauled in nine passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns while veteran Marvin Fuchs had four receptions for 60 yards and a score. Brito was the leading rusher for the Hurricanes in the opening game carrying the ball 12 times for 82 yards and a touchdown. However, expect to see more of running back Benjamin Thompson in today’s game.
This game will definitely be fun to watch as spectators and viewers can expect an all out aerial assault from both teams.
