The Allgäu Comets (6-1) will host the Ravensburg Razorbacks (2-6) in a German Football League South matchup.
Allgäu will look to continue to dominate as the GFL South’s top team. After losing 24-21 to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, they bounced back with a 56-20 win against Marburg last week. On the other side, Ravenburg is coming off their second win of the season after defeating the Munich Cowboys last week, 26-15.
After sneaking into the playoffs with a 6-4 record in 2022 and reaching the semifinals, the Comets look to be a shoe in for the playoffs this season sitting at 6-1.
A big reason for their success continues to come from the play of their first year quarterback, Javarian Smith. The Comets signal caller is ranked second in the GFL in passing yards per game (331.9) and total touchdowns (31).

In his last game against the Marburg Mercenaries, Smith rebounded from loss to Schwäbisch Hall with 387 yards and seven touchdowns against the Mercenaries. Look for him to have another big game against a Ravensburg defense that has given up the most yards per game in the GFL with 393.5.
Before winning last week, Ravensburg went on a three-game losing streak and had not won since their second game of the season. They will have a tough test this week against Allgäu but could use the momentum to try and pull off the late season upset.
On offense, most of the Razorback’s success comes on the ground with running back Lennies McFerren. McFerren ranks second in the GFL in rushing yards with 604. He has also done a great job of ball security, only fumbling once in his 141 carries through eight games.
If Ravensburg looks to pull off the upset, they will need to play the game at their tempo and try to keep Javarian Smith and the Comets off the field as much as possible. If Allgäu can play the way they have been as of late, they will continue their red-hot season.
