The Potsdam Royals (4-1) will face off against the Berlin Adler (2-3) in a German Football League North matchup as the 2023 season hits the midpoint for both teams
After starting off the season undefeated, the Potsdam Royals are coming off their first loss of the season after a 59-45 defeat to the Dresden Monarchs. On the other side, after starting 2-1, the Berlin Adler have now dropped two straight, coming off of a 31-17 loss to the Allgäu Comets.
The Royals may be coming off a loss, but they are in no circumstances the underdog heading into this game. Potsdam may have suffered its first loss at home but were still able to score 45 points.
Watch live PPV. Potsdam Royals @ Berlin Adler, July 1, 17:00 (5 pm, 11 am EDT).
Led by quarterback Jaylon Henderson, Potsdam had a great chance to win last week against Dresden until a scoreless fourth quarter halted their momentum. Henderson combined for 457 total offensive yards and four touchdowns, this included 101 yards and two scores on the ground.
Henderson and the Royals will need to make sure to keep their offense going as they will face the Adler who are second in the GFL giving up an average of only 18.6 points a contest through five games.
After losing two straight road games, Berlin now has a chance to gain back some momentum as they will play Potsdam on their home turf.
Last week, Berlin was only down 17-14 heading into the second half on the road against the Comets. The Adler would tie the game up halfway through the third period but would not be able to hold Javarian Smith and the Comets as they would give up two scores en route to their 31-17 loss.
The Adler defense will have another tough test as they face the Royals who rank fourth in the GFL averaging 448.6 yards of offense per game. But look for quarterback Zach Cavanaugh and the Berlin offense to put on a show of their own in front of their home crowd.
