The Paderborn Dolphins (2-1) take the two hour bus ride to Hildesheim Saturday, June 1 to face the Hildesheim Invaders (2-1) in the fourth full weekend of action in the German Football League.
The last time these two teams faced each other was in the GFL2 in 2022 when the Dolphins defeated Hildesheim 28-22.
After opening the season by losing 56-21 to the defending champion Potsdam Royals, the Invaders have won two straight first beating the Berlin Adler 49-42 and then getting past the Berlin Rebels 36-19. Paderborn also opened the season with a loss, dropping a 38-7 decision to the powerful Dresden Monarchs. They too won two in a row surprising the New Yorker Lions 10-7 and then edging the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 21-19.

Hildesheim quarterback Nelson Hughes has thrown for 724 yards and seven touchdowns in the three games with Lennart Stukenborg being his main target with 15 receptions for 164 yards and running back Jordan Grant who has 12 receptions for 133 yards. Grant has rushed for 176 yards and two scores while Hughes tops the team with 242 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
For Paderborn, Zachary Whitehead has completed 59 of 83 passes for 539 yards and his main targets have been Clemens Schuldt and Louis Waldmann who have 200 and 131 yards receiving respectively in the three games. Joshua Breece rushed for 108 yards on 33 carries and scored two touchdowns.
Hildesheim is the leading rushing team in the GFL and second in passing. This will make for an interesting matchup as the Dolphins have the third leading defense against the run and sixth best against the pass.
