The Paderborn Dolphins (2-3) and Braunschweig New Yorker Lions (2-3) will face each other for the second time this German Football League season, this time in Paderborn.
Paderborn took the first game between the two, in Braunschweig, 10-7.
Paderborn opened the season with a loss, dropping a 38-7 decision to the powerful Dresden Monarchs. They then won two in a row surprising the New Yorker Lions 10-7 and then edging the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 21-19. However, they fell to the Hildesheim Invaders 50-31 before losing to the Berlin Adler last weekend, 44-33.
Braunschweig dropped three in a row to open the GFL season losing to the Dolphins 10-7 , 28-14 to the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes and then 21-7 to the Dresden Monarchs. They finally got their first win June 8 after beating the Kirchdorf Wildcats 24-3 and defeated the Saarland Hurricanes 37-20 for win #2.

For Paderborn, Zachary Whitehead has completed 101 of 146 passes for 1,114 yards and his main targets have been Clemens Schuldt and Louis Waldmann who have 311 and 204 yards receiving respectively in the five games. Joshua Breece rushed for 361 yards on 75 carries and scored four touchdowns.
For Braunschweig, quarterback Lamar Jordan started the first game against Kiel throwing for only 131 yards. He was replaced in the matchup with Paderborn by wide receiver Leon Dirmeier. David Shafir started at quarterback in the loss to Dresden but in the wins over Kirchdorf and Saarland Donovan Ismo started, so it looks like the Lions have resolved their quarterback issues.
