This Saturday, June 24th the Saarland Hurricanes (2-1) will be facing off against the Ingolstadt Dukes (1-2) in a German Football League South matchup.
After dropping a tough game in week one, the Saarland Hurricanes have bounced back since then winning two straight games. On the other side, after getting promotion from GFL 2, the Ingolstadt Dukes are in the midst of a two game losing streak since winning their debut game at the start of the season.
Saarland had a huge offensive game last week where many players got involved beating the Straubing Spiders 35-34 after forcing a fumble on a last second two-point conversion that decided the game.

Led by quarterback Robert Rowell, who had 282 yards and four scores through the air, the Hurricanes were able to come out on top of the most exciting game of the week. Other key players included wide receivers James Brania, Jan Pietsch and Marian Menden who caught all of Rowell’s passes and combined for four scores between the three players.
At the start of the GFL season, the Ingolstadt Dukes had high hopes after defeating the Ravensburg Razorbacks 52-12 in their first game. Then they would have to face Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns in back-to-back games and are now sitting at 1-2.
Playing against the defending GFL champions in two straight games is no easy task, but the Dukes did not go down without a fight in either matchup. Quarterback Matthew Weimer is proving he can play in Germany’s top league with stats putting him fourth in the GFL in passing yards per game (210.7) and fifth in passing touchdowns (9).
While the Saarland Hurricanes are one of hotter teams in the GFL right now, Ingolstadt will need to play more like they did in week one in order to travel on the road and walk away with a win.
