The Ingolstadt Dukes (5-5) will go on the road to H.-Löns-Stadion Sunday, September 3 to face off against the Paderborn Dolphins (3-7) in a GFL North versus GFL South matchup.
Since they are in opposite divisions of the GFL this will be the first and only time they will see each other in the season. Both teams are new to the German Football League this season as they spent last year in the GFL 2 in 2022.
Coming off of a win and sitting with a 5-5 record, Ingolstadt will have to stick to their successful passing game to find the win column again this week. QB Matthew Weimer has continued to show he is one of the GFL’s best talents as he ranks second in passing yards per game with 311.3.
Watch live PPV. Ingolstadt Dukes @ Paderborn Dolphins, Sept. 3, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT)
Just last year the Dukes were playing against a completely different level of competition, but they have already made their case as one of the GFL’s top competitors in their first year. With a win this week, they will secure the fourth and final spot in the GFL South and will have the opportunity to make a run in the playoffs.
On the other side, the Dolphins have had a much different story in their first season apart of the GFL. Midway through the season the Dolphins were battling for the final playoff spot in the GFL North. However, Paderborn has not won a game since July first and have lost four straight putting them at 3-7 and well out of contention to make the playoffs. While they may not be playing for the postseason, they can still play spoiler this week against the Dukes.
The Dolphins’ defense has given up less than 200 passing yards per game so they can be stingy when they want to. Look for them to give Weimer and the Dukes offense some trouble tomorrow.
