LIVESTREAM Germany PPV: Dresden Monarchs @ Paderborn Dolphins, July 30, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT)
Sunday’s German Football League action will feature a GFL North matchup between the 4-1 Dresden Monarchs and the 3-3 Paderborn Dolphins as the league returns from its midseason break in full force.
The Monarchs found themselves atop our midseason power rankings after an incredible start to the season which saw them ranked first in points and yards per-game offensively. With quarterback Steven Duncan at the helm, Dresden have managed to average 47.6 points with just shy of 500 total yards of offense per game. Dresden’s last outing – a 62-32 win over the Saarland Hurricanes – saw Duncan break the GFL record for passing touchdowns, finishing the game with an outstanding 378 yards and nine touchdowns, at a ridiculous 91.4% completion rate.

Duncan leads the league in touchdowns, yards-per-game and completion percentage, asserting himself as one of the premier passers in Europe. His top target, Austin Mitchell, is averaging an astonishing 170 yards and 2.6 receiving touchdowns per-game, while a supporting cast of receivers including Tommy Wilson and Leon Otto have more than held their own, both sitting in the Top 20 in receiving yards.
Paderborn have found success recently, recovering from their three consecutive losses with a surprising 16-8 win over a tough Berlin Rebels squad followed by a victory over the Ravensburg Razorbacks. However, although they have been solid defensively, the Dolphins’ offense is one of the worst in the league.
Dolphins quarterback Niklas Gorny has been efficient from the pocket, with a TD:INT ratio of 7:1 and a completion percentage of 61.2% but Paderborn seem to have a distinct lack of weapons, with just two players surpassing 300 all-purpose yards in Andre Flakes and Eren Jenkins.
Defensively, the Dolphins have been great up front and boast the league’s sack leader in Ron Hairston. A defensive back duo of TJ Comstock and Dennis Laas has also shown to be key to Paderborn’s defense, both leading the team in solo tackles with 19 each while also picking up two interceptions apiece.
