LIVESTREAM Germany PPV: Braunschweig New Yorker Lions @ Saarland Hurricanes, June 22, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 10 am EDT)

The Braunschweig New Yorker Lions (1-3) head south in Germany to face the Saarland Hurricanes (1-4) as the German Football League heads into the seventh round of play.

Braunschweig dropped three in a row to open the GFL season losing to the Paderborn Dolphins 10-7 , 28-14 to the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes and then 21-7 to the Dresden Monarchs. They finally got their first win June 8 after beating  the Kirchdorf Wildcats 24-3. They will face a Saarland Hurricanes team that lost two high scoring games to the Berlin Rebels (39-38) and Comets (36-30) before beating the Ravensburg Razorbacks 44-32. They then proceeded to lose to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns 50-28 and 40-12 to the Straubing Spiders.

For Braunschweig, quarterback Lamar Jordan started the first game against Kiel throwing for only 131 yards. He was replaced in the matchup with Paderborn by wide receiver Leon Dirmeier. David Shafir started at quarterback in the loss to Dresden but in the win over the Wildcats, Donovan Ismo started. Hopefully the Lions will have their quarterback situation resolved come game time today.

For Saarland, quarterback Andrew Brito who was injured in the loss to the Comets, has thrown for 878 yards and 11 touchdowns in the four games he has played. His main target has been Spencer Corona who hauled in 39 passes for 479 yards and eight touchdowns. Veteran Marvin Fuchs has nine receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns but was also the replacement signal caller for Brito in the game against Allgäu throwing for 89 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 114 yards and a score. Brito is the leading rusher for the Hurricanes having carried the ball 34 times for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

While the Hurricanes have one of the best offenses in the GFL averaging over 30 points a game, Braunschweig boasts a defense that surrenders a mere 12.4 points a game.
