LIVESTREAM Germany PPV: Berlin Adler @ Dresden Monarchs, June 17, 18:00 (6 pm, 12 noon EDT).
The 2-1 Berlin Adler will travel to face the 2-1 Dresden Monarchs in week five of the German Football League on Saturday.
After a week one loss to crosstown rivals, the Berlin Rebels, the Adler have had consecutive blowout victories, with the latest coming last week in a 31-0 win over the 1-3 Paderborn Dolphins.
On top of a solid passing performance from Zach Cavanaugh, Berlin were able to run on the struggling Paderborn squad with relative ease. Patrick Oliveira has been a key piece to the Adler’s run game throughout the season, and he sits in second place in the GFL for rushing touchdowns.
Ipp Geordiadis was impossible to ignore on the other side of the ball, racking up three tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles and a recovery. He is also tied first in the league for sacks (2.5).
Following a bye-week, Dresden have had time to recover from their hard-fought loss to the Berlin Rebels.
The game saw back and forth scoring from two dominant offenses, before Dresden tied the game at 23-23 late in the fourth. With the ball in the hands of the Monarchs and the end of the game on the horizon, Steven Duncan was picked off by Deji Agbana who returned the pick for a game-winning touchdown.
Despite this loss, the Monarchs are still considered one of the teams to fear in the GFL, with an insane amount of talent on both sides of the ball. Dresden lead the league with 41.0 points-per-game, while the Adler sit in seventh with just 24.0. They also have the number one QB in Steven Duncan and number one WR in Austin Mitchell, with 369.0 and 229.5 yards per game respectively.
