The German Football League continues Saturday, June 24th, as the Allgäu Comets (3-0) will go head-to-head with the Berlin Adler (2-2).
Allgäu, who has started off red-hot, is heading into the game looking to keep their undefeated streak going for another week. The Berlin Adler are coming off of a 35-12 loss to the Dresden Monarchs. Berlin will try and bounce back by traveling to Allgäu and handing the Comets their first loss of the season.
The season has been somewhat up and down for the Adler, especially on offense. When Berlin has played well, they have walked away with two easy wins. However, when the Adler have lost, they have only put up 25 total points in their two defeats.
One thing that the Adler can seemingly rely on is the play of quarterback Zach Cavanaugh. So far on the season, Cavanaugh is second in the GFL for completions (82) and third in the league for passing yards per game (283.3). He has also done well not turning the ball over, only throwing two interceptions through four games.
Unfortunately for Adler, they have to go to Kempten to face one of the best offenses in the GFL. Still continuing to dominate, Comets quarterback Javarian Smith is coming off another impressive game. Last week against the Munich Cowboys, Smith threw for 381 yards en route to a dominant 41-14 victory. Smith totaled six touchdowns with five through the air and one on the ground.
Smith and the Comets are on fire and going against an Adler team that gave up 35 points and 442 total yards just last week. With the power of the Allgäu offense, the Adler will need to be step for step with the Comets or the home team will walk away with their fourth straight win on Saturday.
