LIVESTREAM Germany PPV: Allgäu Comets @ Munich Cowboys, July 7, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT)
The Allgäu Comets (2-3) head to Munich Sunday, July 7 to attempt to get back on track when they take on the Munich Cowboys (2-3) who sit just precariously right behind them in the German Football League South standings.
These two teams played each other twice in 2023 with the Comets coming out on top both times, 41-14 and 31-14.
The Cowboys opened the season by beating the Straubing Spiders 31-7 and then downed the Kirchdorf Wildcats 21-14. They then dropped two in a row, 33-17 to the Ravensburg Razorbacks and 42-35 to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and then 27-7 to the previously winless Wildcats
After losing their opening game, Allgäu won two straight before losing 46-20 to the Ravensburg Razorbacks and then to the Spiders 29-25. They fell just short to Schwäbisch Hall (58-57) in the first game, but rebounded with wins over the Razorbacks (56-28) and Saarland Hurricanes, 36-30
Munich quarterback Niklas Yockey has thrown for 1,003 yards and 13 touchdowns in the five games with his favorite targets being Gabriel Boccella who has 27 catches for 336 yards and six touchdowns followed by tight end Manuel Hutter who has caught 11 passes for 118 yards and running back Jack Marton with 11 receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown. Marton is the Cowboys leading rusher with 239 yards rushing on 47 carries.
Comets quarterback Xeavier Bullock is the leading passer in the GFL averaging 383.8 yards a game after throwing for 1,919 yards and 24 touchdowns in five games. The aerial onslaught will no doubt continue today. His favorite receiver is Nate Stewart who tops the GFL with 47 receptions for 782 yards and 11 touchdowns. He is followed closely by Ahsan Moore with 26 receptions for 437 yards and six scores, and Dominik Hoerner with 17 catches for 374 yards and three touchdowns.
This one is tough to predict. The edge might go to Munich as they are playing at home. But both teams are slumping and badly need a win.
