The Munich Cowboys (2-7) head into Stuttgart, Germany Saturday, August 4 to take on arch rivals, the Stuttgart Scorpions (1-8) in a battle of the basement in the German Football League South conference.
Stuttgart finally recorded their first win of the season in the last game before the four week break a month ago, beating the Kirchdorf Wilcats decisively, 35-14.
The Scorpions offense which had been weak, has improved slightly under new quarterback Michael Eubank, their third quarterback of the season. In the win against the Wildcats, Eubank threw for 191 yards and five touchdowns. Stuttgart had started the year with Frank Brock and after his departure Rick Webster stepped in. Eubank took over five games ago and has thrown for 974 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging almost 200 yards passing a game. In a close 30-27 loss to Marburg, in June, he completed 17 of 24 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns. His leading receiver is Richard Samuel while running back Giacomo De Pauli, who is also a German national team running back, has rushed for 564 yards, or 63 yards a game.
The Cowboys had been on a two-game winning streak prior to the last two games. They dropped a tight game to the Kirchdorf Wildcats and then were trounced by the Frankfurt Universe.
Munich quarterback Trenton Miller is averaging 251 yards passing per game, fourth best among all quarterbacks. However, he is the entire offense as the Cowboys running game is anemic averaging just over 27 yards a game.
