The top ranked team in Europe and defending German champions, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns open their 2018 season at home against the 0-1 Munich Cowboys in the German Football League.
Schwäbisch Hall enters the game with veteran quarterback Marco Ehrenfried back behind center. He led the GFL in passing yardage in 2017 finishing with 3,735 yards and 46 TDs. Unicorns head coach Jordan Neuman has re-signed all six of his imports including Nathaniel Robitaille a record-setting receiver at Stonehill College (NCAA Div. II) , who gained 1,354 yards receiving and 757 yards in punt and kick returns while scoring 25 TDs, Neuman also managed to bring back defensive back Devin Benton, receiver Tyler Rutenbeck and defensive back Raheem Wilson along with the two Italian Americans, defensive back Cody Pastorino and linebacker Nick Alfieri.
The Cowboys opened the GFL season last week, losing a tough game to the Frankfurt Universe, 17-0. Head coach Garren Holley has signed quarterback Trenton Miller from Concordia University, rated as one of the top college quarterbacks in Canadian college football. He opened the year throwing for 156 yards against Frankfurt, one of the best defenses in the GFL in 2017.
