The Ravensburg Razorbacks (0-1) will host the Munich Cowboys (1-0) in this German Football League South matchup.

These two teams are coming off of very different opening weekends, as both teams were on contrasting sides of a blowout.

The Munich Cowboys raised eyebrows around the world as they scored 10 touchdown and a safety to demolish the Frankfurt Universe 72-0. Veteran quarterback Justin Sottilare dominated, finding open receivers and showing a strong command of the offense, throwing six touchdowns in this first half. This week, Sottiliare and the Cowboys are facing a much more athletic defense and will have to adjust accordingly. The Cowboys offensive line will have to hold up against a tougher pass rush in this pass happy Munich offense. Former Oklahoma University (NCAA D1) receiver Michiah Quick and German playmakers Kai Silbermann and Jakob Wenzel make this offense a tough one to stop.

On defense, Cowboys safety AJ Smith and veteran linebacker Ryan Newell were a dominant duo last week and will need to play well once more against Razorbacks offense with the potential to be put up a ton of points. Newell will have step up to matchup with Ravensburg’s former NFL tight end Ryan Smith.

Ravensburg looks to bounce back from a 58-14 season opening loss to the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns. One bright spot for them in that game was running back Lennies Mcferren. Look for the 220 pound running back to get some carries going downhill against this Cowboys defense. Quarterback Ryan Deal will look to involve former Green Bay Packer Ryan Smith, as the large tight end managed 84 yards and touchdown in his international debut.

Defensively, Jeremy Conley is a pass rusher that could throw a wrench in this Munich passing game. Look for the Razorbacks to send Conley and French edge defender Stanely Zeregbe on the blitz to disrupt Munich’s passing game. Ravensburg’s secondary will have to tackle and cover well against a skilled group of Cowboy receivers.

Both of these teams have their eyes on the playoffs in 2021 and will need to build some momentum in the competitive GFL South to do so. Look for Ravensburg to play much better at home, while the Cowboys are eager to make a statement two weeks in a row.
