LIVESTREAM: Germany – Munich Cowboys @Kirchdorf Wildcats, Sat. June 29, 4p CEDT (10a EDT)
The Munich Cowboys (2-4-1) travel to Kirchdorf, Germany today, Saturday, June 29 to take on the 1-5-1 Kirchdorf Wildcats in a crucial game for both teams to have any chance of making the playoffs in the German Football League.
Kirchdorf were pounded 56-0 by the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns last week after having notched their first win of the season the week before in beating the Allgau Comets 27-25. They had suffered through four straight losses and a tie leading up to that game. Before dropping a 31-29 decision to the Stuttgart Scorpions three weeks ago, the Wildcats had played the Munich Cowboys to a 27-27 tie, dropped a 34-7 decision to Stuttgart and then were walloped 52-14 by the Unicorns. A month ago, they lost to Marburg in a shootout, 55-49.
KIrchdorf QB Ian Kolste (Whitworth) has thrown for 1,306 yards and eight touchdowns in seven games after throwing for 220 yards and 3 TDs in the win over the Comets. Last week though he only threw for 85 yards. Receiver Robert Ruiz (Colorado State) has hauled in 40 catches for 761 yards and three touchdowns and is still second the country in receiving yardage per game but has missed the last two games with a knee injury and is doubtful. As a team, KIrchdorf has averaged 80.1 yards rushing per game.
Munich is coming off a very tough 21-19 loss to the Stuttgart Scorpions. The Cowboys racked up 471 yards of offense in that game including 286 yards through the air but could not score a passing touchdown. The week before they suffered a 41-29 loss to the Marburg Mercenaries following back-to-back wins over the Allgäu Comets, beating them 21-18 and 31-16.
Cowboys QB Brady Bolles has thrown for threw for 1,853 yards and 15 touchdowns in seven games with WR Jaylen Zachery hauling in 65 passes for 878 yards and five of those touchdowns. Kai Silbermann is his next leading target with 523 yards in receptions and five touchdown on 40 catches. Bolles had a 169 yard rushing day against the Scorpions which upped the team’s average to 59.4 yards a game but still leaves them last in rushing in the GFL.
This is a game between two teams desperate for a win and still with a shot at the post season. Anything can happend.
