The Munich Cowboys (0-3) will try to get into the win column Saturday, June 9 when they head to Ingolstadt, Germany to take on the 1-3-1 Ingolstadt Dukes in German Football League regular season action.
The Dukes, in their second season in the GFL, have lost their last three games in a row after opening the season with a win and a tie. Munich, mired in seventh place in the GFL South standings, were barely edged 33-30 last week by the Marburg Mercenaries.
The Ingolstadt offense is among the best in the league in passing with quarterback Nelson Hughes III averaging 234 yards a game, good for sixth overall. He has thrown 15 touchdown passes in five games. His favorite targets are Lorenz Regler who has 19 catches for 382 yards and five touchdowns, Anthony Mella, 17 for 248 and four touchdowns and Jan Hochschild with 14 receptions for 289 yards and four touchdowns. Hughes leads his team in rushing with 158 yards in five games.
Linebackers Patrick Engelhardt and Cory Magwood and lead the team in tackles and defensive back Sterry Codrington is a key in the secondary and along with 25 tackles has recorded two interceptions.
Munich quarterback has thrown for 669 yards and four touchdowns in three games and sits eighth among all quarterbacks. However, the Cowboys running game is anemic with 101 total rushing yards in three games. Running back Darrell Tate has gained 83 yards and no touchdowns so far. However, combined with his receiving and kick returning duties, he is averaging 128.3 yards in total offense.
