Sunday, June 18th, the Allgäu Comets (2-0) will square off against the Munich Cowboys in a German Football League South conference battle.
Allgäu will look to continue their dominant offensive start after scoring 80 points in their first two games. The Comets also rank 2nd in the GFL in total yards per game with 454. On the other side, the Munich Cowboys are trying to bounce back from a tough 31-13 loss against the Saarland Hurricanes, a team that Allgäu beat in week one.
Led by the dual-threat Javarian Smith at quarterback, the Comets have one of the most efficient offenses in the GFL so far this season. While they only were able to put up 28 points in their last matchup against Ravensburg, that did not stop Smith from showing out on the road. Smith totaled 375 all-purpose yards on offense with four scores.

Another reason for the Comets‘ success is their ability to force turnovers. Through their two games this season, Allgäu has forced two fumbles and have four interceptions. This key to victory may be tricky against Munich as Cowboys Quarterback Manuel Engelmann has only thrown one interception through his two games.
The Cowboys are just coming off a tough loss at home to the Saarland Hurricanes. However, they do have another chance to get their home crowd a victory as Allgäu will be traveling to Munich for their second road game in a row.
One issue with the Cowboys is they have not necessarily done much on offense throughout their two games. Even in their lone win of the season, they mustered only 18 points. They rank 12th out of 15 in the GFL for both points per game (15.5) and yards per game (269.5).
Thankfully, on the defensive side, they are one of the better teams statistically. They rank 6th in both points (19.0) and yards per game (286. 5) as well. While their defense has stood tall in their first two games of the season, they will need some production from Engelmann and the offense if they want to be able to battle to the end with a red-hot Allgäu Comets team.
