The 2-4-1 Kirchdorf Wildcats travel to Stuttgart Sunday, July 8 to take on the 0-8 Stuttgart Scorpions in the last game of the German Football League before the four-week break.
The two teams met earlier this season with the Wildcats battling to a 15-7 win at home against Stuttgart.
Stuttgart has improved in recent games and despite the shutout loss to Europe’s number one team, the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns last week, the team is optimistic.
Kirchdorf suffered back-to-back losses to the Allgau Comets and will be looking to rebound.
The Scorpions offense which had been anemic, has improved slightly under new quarterback Michael Eubank, their third quarterback of the season. Stuttgart started the year with Frank Brock and after his departure Rick Webster stepped in. Eubank took over four games ago and has thrown for 783 yards and four touchdowns, averaging almost 200 yards passing a game. In a close 30-27 loss to Marburg, two weeks ago he completed 17 of 24 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns. His leading receiver is Richard Samuel while running back Giacomo De Pauli, who is also a German national team running back, has rushed for 469 yards, or 56 yards a game.
Wildcats quarterback Cameron Birse has thrown for 1,034 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this season. Wide receiver Clemens Erlsbacher is his leading target with 520 yards receiving an six touchdowns. He is followed by Brandon Cox with 24 catches for 324 yards.
If ever there was a game for Stuttgart to enter the win column this is the one. With a month-long break coming up, the Scorpions need this game badly
