The Stuttgart Scorpions (2-0) will be looking to surpass their win record from 2018 today when they play host to the Ingolstadt Dukes (0-1) in German Football League action at GAZi-Stadion in Stuttgart.
Stuttgart won a total of two games last season and have already matched that, getting off to their best start in the GFL since 2014 when they won their first nine games of the season.
The Scorpions opened the season with a 30-21 win over the Marburg Mercenaries and followed that up last week by beating the Kirchdorf Wildcats, 34.7.
Stuttgart QB Michael Eubank threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Marburg and then completed 19 of 31 passes for 242 yards in beating the Wildcats. Running back Giacomo De Pauli has done a lot of the damage rushing for a total of 161 yards in the two games but also catching 11 passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receive Tyler Cooperwood has nine receptions for 189 yards and two touchdowns while Luca Faschian caught eight for 161 and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Scorpions have given up 724 yards of offense in two games.
Ingolstadt lost 24-0 to the powerful Schwabisch Hall Unicorns to open their 2019 season, holding the Unicorns to 299 yards of offense. Unfortunately, Ingolstadt was only able to generate 209 yards and only 99 in the air in the loss.
Anthony Gardner completed 11 of 23 passes for only 87 yards while Cedric Townsend came in late in the game and threw for 17 yards. The run game was slightly better with Mortiz Albrecht rushing for 46 yards and Phillip Ponander 45.
If the Dukes offense can match the defense which held the Unicorns to just 80 yards rushing and 219 passing, they may have a chance in this game.
