LIVESTREAM: Germany – Ingolstadt Dukes @Munich Cowboys, July 8, 3p (9a EST)
The Munich Cowboys (1-5) will try to add to their win column Sunday, July 8, when they welcome the visiting 2-5-1 Ingolstadt Dukes to Dante Stadion in Munich in German Football League regular season action.
The two teams met a month ago with the Dukes coming out on top, 44-21. Ingolstadt occupies sixth place in the GFL South standings while the Cowboys are seventh.
The Dukes, in their second season in the GFL, have lost five of their last six games after opening the season with a win and a tie. Munich won their first game of the year two weeks ago, beating the Allgau Comets 31-28.
The Ingolstadt offense is led by quarterback Nelson Hughes III who is averaging 237 yards a game, good for fifth overall. He has thrown 23 touchdown passes in eight games. His favorite targets are Lorenz Regler who has 26 catches for 530 yards and seven touchdowns, Anthony Mella, 31 for 535 and eight touchdowns and Jan Hochschild with 17 receptions for 334 yards and four touchdowns. Jakob Wenzel leads the team in rushing with 199 yards.
Linebackers Patrick Engelhardt and Cory Magwood and lead the team in tackles and defensive back Sterry Codrington is a key in the secondary and along with 44 tackles has recorded three interceptions.
Munich quarterback Trenton Miller is averaging 251 yards passing per game, fourth best among all quarterbacks. However, the Cowboys running game is anemic averaging just over 37 yards a game. Running back Darrell Tate has gained 133 yards and no touchdowns so far. However, combined with his receiving and kick returning duties, he is averaging 130 yards in total offense.
This is a battle for sixth place and with a four week break coming, all the more important.
