Hildesheim is coming off a three-game losing streak after getting beaten 44-39 last week by the Berlin Rebels. Prior to the three losses, the Invaders had won seven straight after losing their opening game to the Royals.
For Braunschweig, quarterback Donovan Ismo started seven straight games, but suffered a concussion early in the game against the Adler and did not play against Potsdam. His status is not certain. If he can’t go, young David Shafir will step in again. Ismo has thrown for 859 yards and six touchdowns. Shafir started at quarterback in the first loss to Dresden before Ismo stepped in. The leading receiver for the Lions so far has been Luc Meacham who has 31 catches for 395 yards and three scores although he did not play in the win against Kiel.
The Lions though are one of the top defensive teams in the GFL, and are third in rushing yards allowed, giving up 81.6 yards a game, and fourth in passing yards allowed, 189.4.
Hildesheim quarterback Nelson Hughes has thrown for 2,292 yards and 24 touchdowns in the 11 games with Lennart Stukenborg being one of his leading receivers with 34 receptions for 384 yards and three scores along with running back Jordan Grant who has 37 receptions for 336 yards. Grant has rushed for 921 yards and 10 scores, good for third in overall yardage and average yards per game (83.7) while Rayshon Mills has rushed for 513 yards and Hughes 518 yards and nine touchdowns.
This is the biggest game of the weekend in the GFL and expect a tough battle.
